Unburned Carbon from Bagasse Fly Ash to Produce Activated Carbon in a Single-Stage Chemical Process

Bagasse ash waste is generated in sugar mills from the use of bagasse as a fuel. This frequently noticed, its way to landfilled places where it disposed. The dumping biomass wastes caused numerous agricultural processes usually an environmental problem odour and pollutes soil. Recycling these leftovers for manufacturing activated carbon, adsorbent with uses, including removal pollutants, was one option such problem. In this work, carbon made using chemical activation process at 800 °C. Fourier Transform-Infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) X-ray diffraction (XRD) were used characterize sample. functional groups are confirmed by FT-IR existence hydrocarbons. SEM XRD studies show that has low amount inorganic elements when compared precursor. These experimental results suggested might be starter method, making cost effective resource.
